Metronomium, 2022
The class was divided as different departments for the game. I was set with the tech team, programming and building the game up from the many other creative minds of the class.
For the capstone project, I was tasked to work along with other students of the class to make an original game. Metronomium, is one of those rhythm games where you must press a key at the right moment on the metronome bar in order to attack, heal, block, or switch the bards or characters on your team. Play as any of the fascinating bards and take down several evil monsters in order to save music for the world of Metronomium!
As for many projects, so much was planned to be in the game early on that the team would have needed more time to code in. However, the game looks colorful and the original soundtrack fits each genre of the world music greatly.
It really shows the amount of effort put in with each department especially art team with the animations and designs. I’m very proud to have been a part in the project.
What I learned from this class is utilizing GitHub for collaborating on coding the game and also using Discord to communicate with the rest of the teams and instructors. For future game projects, GitHub may still be a very useful tool.
